Nordic Center

Due to recent weather conditions, Nordic trail grooming operations have concluded for the season. While some snow remains at higher elevations, including Blue Ridge, trail conditions are variable and may include sections of mud, ice, and inconsistent coverage.

Out of an abundance of caution, we are not recommending Nordic skiing at this time. Guests choosing to access remaining snow areas should be prepared for changing conditions.

Welcome to the Nordic Center at YMCA of the Rockies – Snow Mountain Ranch. Our world-class terrain meanders through pine forest, wide meadows, and all the way to the summit of Blue Ridge. To access our miles of trails for all ability levels and ages, including 6 miles open to fat tire bikes and dogs, you can purchase a day pass.  Members and overnight guests can choose from a variety of affordable lodging options and dozens of daily activities — plus, the whole family receives complimentary trail passes!

  • Trail Etiquette

Please follow Trail Etiquette by using the designated trails for your sport to ensure the safety of others and prevent damage to groomed trails. A footprint or snowshoe track will melt through the snow and spread, creating significantly uneven surfaces.

What does Trail Etiquette look like? See here

Skiers are requested to avoid skiing behind grooming equipment if daylight grooming is taking place. This is for safety and trail quality. Please allow at least an hour for the snow to harden. If you believe you may be hurting the grooming, you probably are! Please find an alternate route.

  • What are the Nordic Center Hours of Operation?

The Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Center is open daily, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.

We will open for the 2024/2025 season on November 24. Trails will open weather depending.

  • Understanding the Grooming Zones

The trails at Snow Mountain Ranch for grooming purposes are divided into four trail zones. We will strive to have Zone A and at least part of Zone B in very good-to-excellent condition on a daily basis. This is based on weather and snow conditions. What zone(s) are being groomed will be posted by 9:30 AM the day-of on our grooming web page. Grooming priorities have been established taking into consideration skier use patterns, distance from the Nordic Center, skier surveys, and snow conditions.

Zone A: This is our top priority zone. It is the trails in the immediate vicinity of the Nordic Center. The trails include the CCO loops, the inner dog loops of Travis, and everything South of the Nordic Center from Heckman on the East to Lower Blue Ridge on the West.

Zone B: This is our second priority zone. This Zone includes dog loops out to Ten Mile Creek and our ski in/ski out trails near our guest cabins. Iconic trails including Wild Turkey and Sleepy Hollow are part of this zone.

Zone C: This zone is our most difficult terrain based on climb and altitude. This is all trails South of the Gold Mine on Blue Ridge. Blue Ridge will be groomed for the 25/26 season. There is also a new connector trail from the Blue Ridge loop to the top of Upper Young in the Eagle Valley.

Zone D: It is an area that is in the North East entry quadrant of the Ranch. The main trails in this area are Just and Audun. It is moderate rolling, fun terrain with new growth trees.

  • Pet-Friendly Policy

Dogs on leashes are allowed on snowshoe trails and designated ski trails.
