The Birkie Tradition Goes West

The inaugural Birkie West Nordic Ski Race brings the tradition, camaraderie, excitement and unmistakable style of the American Birkebeiner to the spectacular Rocky Mountain West.
Hosted at the Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Center at YMCA of the Rockies, Birkie West invites Nordic skiers to experience high-altitude competition on some of Colorado’s finest cross-country ski terrain. With a challenging Freestyle course and a welcoming atmosphere, the event brings together the thrill of racing with everything skiers love about Birkie tradition.
And Birkie West is about more than race day. Snow Mountain Ranch offers more than 80 kilometers of Nordic terrain, from demanding trails for experienced skiers to approachable routes for recreational skiers of all ages and abilities. It’s a place where serious competitors, lifelong Nordic enthusiasts and families discovering the sport can all feel at home.
Best of all, everything is right here. Stay onsite in lodge rooms or cabins, enjoy convenient dining, and make a weekend of it with activities for racers, families and friends—including plenty of ways to enjoy the mountains even if skiing isn’t their thing. Race participants receive discounted lodging and meals.
