Nature Workshop: History of Rocky Mountain National Park with Larry Schneider
Learn about the players and events that defined the area of Estes Park, YMCA of the Rockies and Rocky Mountain National Park. Explore the human history, from early native peoples through the pioneer era. Participants will visit historic sites and travel on similar trails as people of the past.

Friday, August 15: 8am-4:30pm

Saturday, August 16: 8am-12pm

Workshop registration is $195. Registration includes small group instruction and transportation (if applicable). Lodging and meals are not included. After registration you will receive an email two weeks prior to the workshop with a syllabus and supplies/items needed.

About the Instructor:
Larry Schneider has had a longtime interest in history. In his earlier years he worked at the Missouri History Museum where, among other things, he was responsible for innovative museum theatre programs. Larry first came to Rocky Mountain National Park in 1963 at the age of 5 and has been returning ever since. With his enriched knowledge and appreciation of the legacies that make this area the place that it is today, Larry’s passion for history creates an exciting and engaging course. Being a hike master at YMCA of the Rockies is a dream retirement job for Larry because it allows him to pursue two of his passions: nature and history. Larry hails from St. Louis, Missouri, where he still lives in the offseason.
