Our trails wind straight through stands of quaking aspen that light up gold and amber from mid-September into October. Lace up for a family hike, saddle up for a guided horseback ride through the color, or just find a meadow and let the kids run. The Continental Divide sits on the horizon the whole time. 

Fall here is a season you feel as much as see. Aspen leaves clatter and shiver in the wind. Breathe in air that's turned crisp and clean, savor the last warm sun on your face before winter settles in, and catch that fallen-leaves scent that means summer has let go.

The drive up from the Front Range climbs over Berthoud Pass and drops you into the Fraser Valley — one of Colorado's best stretches of fall color, all within about two hours of Denver. Make a day of it, then come home to Snow Mountain Ranch

Fall is cabin season at Snow Mountain Ranch. Settle a group into a private cabin with the color right outside the window, or keep it simple with a warm lodge room. Cabins are available through November 30 with a 3-night minimum, so a long fall weekend is the sweet spot.
