Big things are happening at one of the most beloved spaces at YMCA of the Rockies-Estes Park Center.
Starting January 4, 2026, the Sweet Memorial Program Building will be temporarily closing its doors for a well-deserved renovation. This project is all about freshening things up—inside and out. We're talking refinished floors, a lofted ceiling, updated bathrooms, cozy new furniture, a new porch, improved accessibility, and all-new game room equipment. It's a facelift rooted in comfort, community, and (of course) fun. This renovation is made possible by 12 generous donor families.
If you've ever played a rousing round of air hockey here or kicked off your family scavenger hunt on the porch, you know Sweet is more than just a building—it's a gathering place, a memory-maker, and a cornerstone of our programming since 1960.
It's also a place with legacy. Named after William Sweet—an early board member, Estes Park site selector, and former governor of Colorado—the building honors a family whose support helped shape the very roots of YMCA of the Rockies.
While Sweet takes a breather, here's what guests need to know:
- Game Time Lives On: You'll still find recreation and game equipment at the Longhouse. Board games and puzzles? Head to the Administration Building.
- Need Family Programs Info? Visit the Mountain Center or check in at the Front Desk.
- Where to Start: After January 4, all family activity goers should start at the Mountain Center. The weekly Activity Guide will have updated locations and times.
We can't wait to welcome you back to a revitalized Sweet Memorial Building by Memorial Day—refreshed, re-imagined, and ready for even more laughter, learning, and togetherness.
Thanks for your patience as we grow this space for the next generation of shared adventures.
