YMCA of the Rockies is pleased to announce that renovations for two beloved performance venues at its Estes Park Center — Hempel Auditorium and the Kathie Mennel Amphitheater — are now fully funded, marking an important milestone in the ongoing enhancement of performing arts and gathering spaces at the Center. Both projects are on track for completion in summer 2026.
The Hempel Auditorium renovation is made possible through the generous support of several YMCA families who wish to remain anonymous. Their collective investment enhances the auditorium's functionality for performances, programs, and community use.
Upgrades to the Kathie Mennel Amphitheater are funded by John and Lauri Mennel and their family, who continue to honor the legacy of John's mother, Kathie Mennel, through their support of this cherished outdoor gathering space.
The renovations are part of Arts at Altitude at Estes Park Center, an initiative focused on strengthening performing arts programming and supporting a wide range of experiences for guests and artists.
"Philanthropy plays a vital role in how we can serve families and conferences," said Julie Watkins, President and CEO of YMCA of the Rockies. "We are deeply grateful to the donors who made these projects possible. Their generosity ensures that Estes Park Center remains a place where people can come together, be inspired, and create lasting memories."
