Your Gifts at Work: Teen Barn at the Outpost

For generations, the Teen Barn at the Outpost has been a cornerstone of the Estes Park Center experience — a space where teenagers have gathered, created memories, and found their footing in the outdoors. Thanks to the generosity of Annette and Ken Hallock, it is now better equipped to serve the next generation.

"Some of my best times as a teen were at the Teen Barn. I hope today's youth will find the same joy!"

— Annette Hallock, Rocky Mountain Leadership Council Member

Annette's gift — made in honor of her parents, Annie Pearl and Hi Treaccar, who cherished their own time at the YMCA — funded a comprehensive renovation of the beloved space. The updated Teen Barn now features a new concrete floor, upgraded bathrooms, a new roof, and a heating system that makes the facility usable year-round.

The impact has been immediate. By the end of 2025, more than 3,000 students benefited from the updated space through Outdoor Education programs, Day Camp, and adventure activities, according to Estes Park Center Environmental Education Director Ethan Reed.

The Teen Barn renovation is one of the first Climbing Higher projects completed at Estes Park Center — and a reminder of what happens when donors invest in the spaces that shape young people's lives.
