FUNdraising Ideas
If your youth group is planning a retreat to YMCA of the Rockies and your kids are tired of the same old fundraisers, here are a few new and innovative ideas to try:
-
Hold a Pie or Baked goods auction with Live Auctioneer – partner with the local radio or television station to get a local “celebrity” MC to make the event FUN!
-
Create a “good works” network and promote throughout your community…
* Walk your dog $5
* Wash your car $5
* Mow your lawn $5…
-
Contact local vendors and ask them to sponsor/scholarship a set number in the youth group in exchange for promoting their services; volunteering in their store; cleaning up their parking lot, shoveling snow etc.
-
Shave a head, beard or goatee! Make a plea to prominent 'hairy' person in your congregation to help you raise your necessary funds…See if he’ll shave if you make your goal! Or collect pledges to 'buy' the shave.
-
Create a spirit of “Friendly Competition” perhaps Guys VS. Gals teams in fundraising goals – creates teamwork and great results!
-
Hold a “Raise up a Child” special breakfast cooked, served and clean-up provided by the Youth group to the church congregation and community for a small fee with donations encouraged.
-
Many folks need help with household chores and are happy to pay, why not promote within your church and/or community. Rent a “Tireless Teen” to help out for the day for a pre-set fee.
-
Ask the local police chief and fire chief to hold an “arm-wrestling” tournament with Police VS Fire Department and donate the proceeds to your youth group.
-
Memory for hire! Find sponsors that will pay per bible verse memorized and then recite the verses out loud in front of the congregation – announce the amount earned at the end so that others in the audience may be inspired to support the youth fundraising too!
-
You can sell pizza, fruit, candy bars, quilts, themed baskets, candles or anything else – just be creative and sincere and others will want to support your good cause!
If you have other great ideas that have worked well in your community, let us know and we will post them here to inspire others. The more creative the better! Please send them to: info@ymcarockies.org
