- DAY CAMP – GENERAL COUNSELOR (summer only)
Day camp counselor for:
BENNETT PROGRAM (ages 3 – 5 years), or
LEGETT PROGRAM (K-8th grade campers), or
SCRABBIT PROGRAM (K-8th grade LOCAL campers)
Counselors provide leadership through
planning, organizing and supervising youth in a variety of outdoor and indoor programs, under all weather conditions; work Monday through Friday; are responsible for the safety of children in their care with the ability to identify and respond to safety problems; regularly lift up to 60 pounds up to four feet; and are fluent in speaking English. Counselors must have enthusiasm with children, the desire to develop and practice good programming and leadership, and the ability to model wholesome, Christian behavior. Counselors must take Basic Wilderness First Aid at the YMCA of the Rockies on Saturday, May 29, and be able to be CPR certified (offered on-site). - DAY CAMP – GROUP LEADER COUNSELOR (summer only)
Day camp counselor for:

Counselors provide leadership through planning, organizing and supervising youth in a variety of outdoor and indoor programs, under all weather conditions; work Monday through Friday; are responsible for the safety of children in their care with the ability to identify and respond to safety problems; regularly lift up to 60 pounds up to four feet; and are fluent in speaking English. Counselors must have a degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, Family and Child Development, or Child Psychology. Counselors must have enthusiasm with children, the desire to develop and practice good programming and leadership, and the ability to model wholesome, Christian behavior. Counselors must take Basic Wilderness First Aid at the YMCA of the Rockies on Saturday, May 29, and be able to be CPR certified (offered on-site). - DAY CAMP - OUTPOST / ADVENTURER COUNSELOR (summer only)
Day camp counselor for: 5th – 12th grade campers
Counselors provide leadership through planning, organizing, supervising and facilitating youth in a variety of outdoor and indoor programming, under all weather conditions. For 5th-8th graders, program is focused on building outdoor skills and group consensus. Activities include challenge course, climbing wall, hiking, and cooking over a campfire. Counselors work Monday through Fridays, with Thursday being an afternoon/evening/night camp day. For the 9th-12th graders, activities include challenge course, horseback riding, climbing, rafting, mountain biking, and teen night activities. Counselors work Monday through Friday, as well as some teen nights 9pm-11pm Monday through Thursday. Counselors are responsible for the safety of youth in their care with the ability to identify and respond to safety problems; regularly lift 60 lbs up to four feet; and are fluent in speaking English. Counselors must have enthusiasm with children, the desire to develop and practice good programming and leadership, and the ability to model wholesome, Christian behavior. Counselors must take Wilderness First Aid and be CPR certified (certifications offered on-site). Counselors must be 21 years of age with a clean driving record for transportation purposes. - DAY CAMP – DIRECTOR (summer only)
Day Camp Directors must have worked at least one summer as a YMCA of the Rockies/Estes Park Center Day Camp Counselor. Directors provide leadership and direction to day camp counselors; are responsible for the day to day operation of the program, planning and implementing the program, and supervising counselors; possess supervisory, organizational and customer service skills; are responsible for the safety of children and staff in their care with the ability to identify and respond to safety problems; regularly lift up to 60 pounds up to four feet; and are fluent in speaking English. Directors must have enthusiasm with children and peers, the desire to develop and practice good programming and leadership, and the ability to model wholesome, Christian behavior. Directors must able to be Basic Wilderness First Aid and CPR certified (certifications offered on-site). - DAY CAMP - ARTS/CRAFTS COUNSELOR (summer only)
Arts/Crafts counselor develops, plans, organizes, leads and instructs programming in simple camp Arts/Crafts projects, as well as another specialty activity of interest, for all age groups. Counselor works with a variety of age groups for an hour at a time; is responsible for the safety of youth in their care with the ability to identify and respond to safety problems; contributes in other areas of camp supervision and programming as needed; regularly lifts up to 60 pounds up to 4 feet; and is fluent in speaking English. Counselor must have enthusiasm with children, the desire to develop and practice good programming and leadership, and the ability to model wholesome, Christian behavior. Counselors must be able to be Basic Wilderness First Aid and CPR certified (certifications offered on-site). - DAY CAMP - EVENING / SPECIALTY COUNSELOR (summer only)
Counselors provide care and leadership through planning, organizing and supervising youth in a variety of outdoor and indoor programming and games, under all weather conditions on
Tuesdays from 3:30-9:30pm. Counselors assist in our before/after care programs and provide specialty programming such as Nature Activities, Drama, Music, etc. for a variety of camper groups. Counselors are responsible for the safety of children and groups in their care with the ability to identify and respond to safety problems; are able to regularly lift up to 60 pounds up to four feet; and are fluent in speaking English. Counselors must have enthusiasm with children, the desire to develop and practice good programming and leadership, and the ability to model wholesome, Christian behavior. Counselors must be able to be Basic Wilderness First Aid and CPR certified (certifications offered on-site). - DAY CAMP – SPECIAL NEEDS COUNSELOR (summer only)
Counselors have experience with and/or education in working with children with special needs. Counselors provide care for children in our programs with special needs through inclusion with other day camp groups as much as possible; communicate with the Day Camp Health Care Coordinator, staff, parents and other campers to ensure the best possible experience for all; work Monday through Friday; are responsible for the safety of children in their care with the ability to identify and respond to safety problems; regularly lift up to 60 pounds up to four feet; and are fluent in speaking English. Counselors must have enthusiasm with children, the desire to develop and practice good programming and leadership, and the ability to model wholesome, Christian behavior. Counselors assist in other areas of camp as needed. Counselors must be able to be Basic Wilderness First Aid and CPR certified (certifications offered on-site). - DAY CAMP HEALTH CARE COORDINATOR (summer only)
Health care coordinator is a Colorado Licensed RN or Licensed Emergency Medical Technician meeting Social Services and American Camping Association requirements for Day Camp, who provides camper and staff medical supervision, medication oversight, and registration screening. The Health Care Coordinator is responsible for the safety of youth in their care with the ability to identify and respond to safety problems; regularly lifts up to 60 pounds up to four feet; is fluent in speaking English; has verifiable child care experience; possesses good customer service skills; has enthusiasm with children and the ability to model wholesome, Christian behavior. - DAY CAMP - REGISTRAR (summer only)
Registrars handle registration for all day camp programs to ensure that each child is registered properly, through computer data input, verbal communication and handling of money transactions. Registrars possess good organizational, communication and customer service skills; have computer/keyboard skills; are fluent in speaking, writing and reading English; enjoy interacting and working with people and are able to model wholesome, Christian behavior. - DAY CAMP - SUPPLY PERSON (summer only)
Supply Person manages camp supplies for the summer day camp; orders, buys, delivers, restocks, and invoices needed items for appropriate camps; prepares daily snacks; adheres to Day Camp budget and informs Day Camp Directors of budget status; possesses strong organizational, communication and customer service skills; has computer/keyboard skills; is fluent in speaking, writing and reading English; is at least 21 years of age with a clean driving record and able to safely drive a mini-van; enjoys interacting with people and is able to model wholesome, Christian behavior.
