In addition to 60 year-round employees, Snow Mountain Ranch employs over 225 seasonal staff and volunteers in the summer and 170 in the winter.

GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKER (all seasons, 2-4 positions) D Respond to problems with customer facilities and complete basic repairs in plumbing, heating, electrical and carpentry. Uses a variety of power, hand and carpentry tools. Lift 50 lbs., four feet daily, occasionally up to 100 lbs.   

GROUNDS MAINTENANCE WORKER (all seasons, 2-8 positions) D Responsibilities include trash service, recycling, litter pick-up, yard work, snow shoveling. Work outside in varied weather conditions. Uses yard and power equipment. Lift 50 lbs., four feet daily, occasionally up to 100 lbs.

BUILDING MAINTENANCE WORKER (all seasons) D Respond to problems with customer facilities and complete basic repairs in drywall repair, painting & carpentry. Uses a variety of power, hand and carpentry tools. Lift 50 lbs., four feet daily, occasionally up to 100 lbs. 

FRONT DESK ATTENDANT: In addition to being a responsible and professional team player, duties include front desk clerical work and switchboard operation.  Use computer, telephone, switchboard, and radio base station.  Communicate with guests over the telephone and in person.  Handle emergency situations on switchboard and radio.  Make change, complete reports, and maintain an accurate account of daily income.  Read and speak English.  Work rotating shifts.  Foreign languages are helpful.  Fundamental math skills are a necessity.   

 CHAPLAIN'S ASSISTANT: Assist with daily operation of the Chaplain's Office.  Opportunities  to lead Bible studies, discussion groups, vesper services, and devotionals.  Help with Sunday Worship and preaching opportunities.  Must be spiritually mature, flexible, and open to all faiths.  Must be a person who enjoys working with, helping, and listening to people!  Vocal music, piano, and/or guitar experience welcomed.  Office skills and ability to use computer (Microsoft Word) and telephone.  Have valid driver's license and comply with YMCA driving rules.  Read and speak English.

CONFERENCE SERVICES WORKER (all seasons) Assist with the needs of conference groups including: set up and cleaning meeting rooms; deliver refreshments; a-v equipment set-up; and customer service. Read and speak English. Excellent public relations skills. Lift and carry 25 lbs. up/down stairs, and in/out of vehicles. Work with a variety of cleaning chemicals. Have valid driver's license and comply with YMCA driving rules. 

FOOD SERVICE WORKER (all seasons) Responsibilities include food preparation, serving, washing dishes, cleaning kitchen, dining room and restrooms. Must be able to carry up to 70 lbs. up to 20 feet.  Must maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company policy.

HOUSEKEEPING (all seasons) Clean cabins and lodges on a crew with other employees. Includes such things as dusting, making beds, vacuuming, and scouring toilets and sinks. Move appliances and furniture (up to 50 lbs.), work in small areas on hands and knees, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Read and understand labels printed in English. Work with chemicals throughout the day. Stamina required for physically strenuous work. Schedule 7:30 am to 4:00 p.m. Be flexible with schedule as needed. There may be opportunities to work as Crew Leader for additional compensation.

JANITORIAL:  Clean all lobbies and restrooms, as well as the Kiva Center (recreation facilities), on a daily basis. Also "spring" (deep) clean all common meeting rooms as needed. Work with cleaning chemicals throughout the day. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Schedule 6:30 am - 3:00 p.m. Be flexible with schedule as needed.

DORM CUSTODIAN: Clean the public areas of staff housing, check staff in and out of rooms, perform basic maintenance duties, and prepare rooms for incoming staff. Lift and carry 25 lbs. up three flights of stairs up to five times daily. Clean on hands and knees using chemicals on a daily basis. Able to work independently. There may be opportunities to work as dorm custodian supervisor for additional compensation.

 

HUMAN RESOURCE ASSISTANT:  Assist with the daily operation of the Human Resources Office.  Complete secretarial, receptionist, and general office duties.  Read and speak English.  Use computer, telephone, and copy machine.  Develop and distribute weekly staff newsletter.  Able to operate, or learn quickly, Microsoft Word and Publisher software.  Have valid driver's license and comply with YMCA driving rules.  Able to drive 14 passenger van up to 5 hours at least once a week.  Will include city and mountain driving.  Work varied schedule.  Handle confidential matters.  Intern preferred.  Office experience required. 

 Recreation and Program Department

RECREATION SUPERVISOR: 

LIFEGUARD

DAY CAMP: Day Camp counselor for children 5 to 17 years old.  Need to be responsible, enthusiastic, caring role model.  Must enjoy working with children and youth.  Develop and teach weekly activity schedule.  Minimum experience three months full time or part-time equivalent, working with school-age children.  Able to pass criminal background investigation.  Certified First Aid and CPR.  Hiking and outdoor education skills.  Work under a variety of conditions, indoors and outdoors, standing, carrying, and walking.  Lift up to 60 lbs.  Read and speak English.  Able to swim.  Minimum of 19 years of age.

STAFF ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR: Plan and implement social, recreational, and educational activities for employees and transport employees to/from airport. Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills. Role model for employees.  Drive a mini van up to 5 hours at least three times per week.  Includes city and mountain driving in all weather conditions.  Have valid driver's license and comply with YMCA driving rules.  Work varied schedule. Work with one other person without direct supervision.

FAMILY PROGRAMMER: (summer only) Develop,  implement and advertise programs for families.  Outstanding public speaking and presentation  skills required.  Ability to work with all age groups. Read and speak English.  Current First Aid and CPR certifications.  Maintain program participation records and evaluations.  Work varied schedule.  Guitar skills preferred.
  

PRESCHOOL TEACHER: (end of August to May)  Teach preschool, care for children, develop lesson plans and program activities for children 3 to 5 years old. Must have degree in child development, early childhood education, or elementary education etc.  Need to be enthusiastic, responsible, mature, caring role model.  Must enjoy working with children.  Able to pass criminal background investigation.  Certified First Aid and CPR.  Work under a variety of conditions, indoors and outdoors, standing, carrying, and walking.  Lift up to 60lbs.  Read and speak English.  Able to swim and work in all weather conditions (snow, rain, sun, etc).
  

ADVENTURE EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR:  (summer only) Work in a dynamic adventure program which includes nature interpretations on day hikes, low and high elements challenge courses,  climbing wall,  trail system,  and environmental education.  Work in all kinds of weather conditions.  Experienced in leading day hikes.  Experience working with multiple populations.  Certified First Aid and CPR.  Operate telephone and computer.  Read and speak English.  Able to pass criminal background investigation.

TODDLER GROUP LEADER: (end of Aug. to May) Lead toddler program and direct other staff within this program.  Possess enthusiasm with children, the desire to develop and practice good programming and group leading skills, and the ability to model wholesome, Christian behavior.   Possess American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certifications, or equivalents.  Minimum 21 years old.  Possess Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university.  (Certificate in infant and toddler care or possess "Group Leader" qualifications for a "large childcare center".)  Able to lift 25 pounds throughout the day. Able to work in all weather conditions (snow, rain, sun, etc).

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR: (spring, fall & winter only)  Instruct environmental programs to 4th-12th grade students and Elderhostel groups.  Conduct experientially & science based classes in water & beaver ecology, senses activities, orienteering, low & high challenge courses, indoor climbing wall, campfires, night hikes snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, winter ecology, and other winter concepts. Lead interpretive hikes to guests of all ages.  BS or BA in environmental  education/science, adventure education, or related field.  Work with children; safety conscious; initiative; leadership ability.  First aid/CPR certified (prefer WFR).  Speak and read English.  Able to pass criminal background investigation.

TRAIL GROOMERS: (ski season only) Groom Nordic ski trails, operate snowmobiles, shovel snow, and perform basic equipment maintenance.  Excellent physical condition.  Work in temperatures as low as -40° F.  Excellent knowledge of cross country skiing, including events/race course development.  Able to work in icy and snowy terrain.  Read and speak English.  Issue equipment, use cash register, make change, balance cash box and complete cash reports.  Knowledge of Nordic ski equipment.  Excellent public relations skills on telephone and in person.  Certified First Aid and CPR required.  Previous experience required.  Knowledge of machinery, proper use and repair.

MUSEUM GUIDE: (summer only) Lead tours at the Homestead Museum.  Knowledge of YMCA and Homestead or ability to learn this information. Able to walk on rugged terrain and stairs. Maintain facility in a neat and orderly fashion.  Able to move furniture and equipment weighing up to 60lbs. Outstanding public relations skills.

NORDIC INSTRUCTORS: (ski season only) Teach guests and staff cross country skiing (all levels).  Knowledge of Nordic ski equipment.  Able to demonstrate up-to-date techniques.  Expert skier in excellent physical condition. Work in temperatures as low as  -40° F.   Outstanding teaching and public relations skills.  Issue equipment, answer telephone, use cash register, make change, balance cash box, and complete cash reports.  Certified First Aid and CPR required.  Able to shovel snow for two consecutive hours.   Previous experience required.  Will aid in basic trail grooming.
