Letter from the Director
Dear Parent,
Since 1908, Camp Chief Ouray (CCO) has been providing quality activities and programs that challenge children spiritually, mentally, and physically. We take pride in our facility, natural surroundings and trained counseling staff, as well as the fact that we expose campers to the outdoors, new friendships, and the personal challenges and rewards of residential camping.
CCO is accredited by the American Camp Association, an independent organization that sets a national standard for camps. While fun and excitement are certainly a goal for CCO campers, safety is our first priority, and we strive to find the highest quality staff. Our staff is trained in First Aid and CPR, and some are also trained in Wilderness First Aid and as Wilderness First Responders. CCO screens each applicant with an extensive interview, multiple personal and professional reference checks, and background checks by state and national authorities.
We celebrated our 100th Anniversary in 2008 and have combined traditional camp programs with the best of uniquely new and exciting adventures! We look forward to meeting you this summer.
