Volunteer Information:
During the summer season, the YMCA hires seasonal volunteers to work at the museum. They arrive before Memorial Day and stay through Labor Day.
Summer volunteers are required to work 28 hours per week. Volunteers between Labor Day and Memorial Day work 24 hours per week for a minimum of four weeks. All volunteers receive room and board.
Volunteers greet guests and work as docents. They assist in collections management and keep the museum clean and orderly. Basic word processing skills are desirable. Some light yard work and maintenance activities are also part of the job. No previous museum experience is required, but strong people skills are a must.
Local volunteers living in nearby communities are welcome year-round. Some of our volunteers work as little as two days per month.
To learn more about volunteer or employment opportunities, contact the museum director via email or by calling 970-586-3341, ext. 1136. To find out more about working at Estes Park Center-YMCA of the Rockies as a seasonal employee or volunteer, click here.
Internship Information:
The primary role of the Museum Intern is to facilitate education programming for children in the YMCA of the Rockies Day Camp program. This role requires the intern to creatively interpret the history of the YMCA of the Rockies and the Estes Park area into activities that engage children aged pre-K to high school. These activities utilize the resources the Dorsey Museum offers while placing the YMCA of the Rockies and Estes Park into the wider context of the history of the western United States.
The intern may also be involved in introducing guests to the museum, exhibit design and maintenance and assisting in various record keeping tasks as needed and workload permitting.
If you have questions or would like to apply for an internship position, please contact Bryon Hoerner.
